We relay here the text of a friend who came for the winter solstice party in the Bois Lejuc and the joy was contagious. Not easy to translate, especially the slang, excuse us if it’s not very clear !
“What happiness, after having struggled in thick fog for an hour, to arrive at night in the forest occupied by the valiant resistant fighters and to be able to warm up around a camp fire, surrounded by nothing that good mugs.” Good mugs ready to sing, drink eat food brought by everyone and howling in rage if the enemy comes, some good mugs, they are dozens and dozens in this magical forest magic, busy now for 6 months, to the great rage of Andra, nuclear industry, public authorities and local representatives at their feet.
Good God it’s good to continue to beat them!
I’m greeted by a good home-made punch which immediately puts me in the mood. And after we talk! And with us, their rotten society takes a hit! Here people come from everywhere, from here and there. In addition to neighbours, there are people from all France but also abroad… human beings who don’t care about borders and who are there to fight the worst nightmare ever imagined by capitalism: bury highly radioactive waste 400 m below ground!
The worst nightmare because the poison that they’ll put here, nobody knows nor when or how, by what paths, by which gaps it’s gonna come back right in the face of the planet, no one knows what will be the scale of the damage that it will produce, this poison, on plants, on human beings animals humans and where? Where to hide? going out to the East, West, in Champagne, in the Paris region, in Nancy, everywhere?
The only thing we know, it’s that it will come back, maybe even tomorrow, and this time, we’ll have no chance to control anything. So we fight. And we’ll fight to the end of the end. Because if there is no good solution with nuclear power, the worst of the worst of the worst, it’s indeed landfilling and giving up hope.
And what is beautiful is that people settle in, in the forest but also all around, at the house of resistance, at the station, in new places rented or purchased, some say they come for 6 months, others for one year, others for 8 days, others forever, who cares we’re all here, more and more, and we’ll win. We will win because we have the enthusiasm and the rage so that the bastards on the other side only have their power and their money. (and they have less and less money because EDF and Areva are on the verge of bankruptcy).
That said, it was the winter solstice party, it was cold and we wanted to show that nothing could stop us, not the cold, the fog or rain. That’s why we were dozens and dozens. In support of the courageous and brave permanent of the forest. I wanted to sleep at the top of a tree, 25 or 30 m high (there are plenty of tree houses) that was my dream, but because I had never climbed, I was advise against trying at night. So wisely, I slept at the communal, it is a nice house on the ground, made from wooden pallets (see photo) you can see the stars when there is some. Wrapped up and after the schnapps, a very very good friend next to me to talk, and redo the world, just nothing but happiness.
The morning sleep well deserved, wake of the body at 10: 00, and extraordinary breakfast with black and white blood sausages on the grill. After:climbing workshop (see photo of the lens) but pitiful failure for me, even less flexible than a piece of wood. But I’ll come back dressed properly!
It’s nothing when we leave Bure, stars in the eyes, and we know, we feel that the world can change! not only here in Bure but everywhere because we are millions to want it. Go there to make a tour and you will see as well, we can spend the new year (there is a party) and all week-ends (see this link: http://en.vmc.camp/) Long live the struggle! Long live the hope! Down capitalism! Down their projects rotten! Down the borders! Down the walls! (It is still on the ground, as the symbol of their meltdown) and down Cigéo! “
Tension is rising in the the liberated forest of Lejuc, Bure: the blue team has opened the game – reinforcements needed!
Recently we published an emergency call-out concerning the situation of our fresh, small but active forest occupation standing against the nuclear monster Andra and its CIGEO plan. On 24th of november, our eviction threat got concrete. The environmental authority decided to free Andra from carrying out an environmental impact study, opening its way towards the final destruction permit.
That very morning the blue team opened the game.
After the é’th decision, they are attempting to penetrate their way into the forest by any possible means. Sometimes they use excuses like «replanting trees», or civilian cops coming for a walk with their «families» on Sunday afternoons. Today they paid us three consecutive visit at the entrance barricade between 6:30 and 8 AM. Finally, they even tried to take that barricade1 with a comical attempt to appear credible in our eyes. Obviously they are testing our reactions and trying to wear us down so they can plan how to come next.
As the blue team opened the game, come and play with us! We are urgently asking reinforcements to come. The first official squatter of the Lejuc woods, Sven Lindstrom, decided to do his bit in making eviction matters more difficult for Andra by changing his home address in to the woods and throwing a themed birthday party on 13.12. As the first party crashers have now rattled at the gates, we urge our friends to come bounce them out of the forest next time they show up.
« Come in, bring your own beer and plenty of friends!» Sven wishes to add.
While we are taking our stand against the destruction of the living planet in the name of short-term profit, other good people are taking their stand elsewhere. With love, rage and solidarity we wish to encourage those facing the full force of repression in Standing Rock, North Dakota – one struggle!

1 Luckily, we have many. All over the place. Defend them with us!
You know how these occupations often go: bad people start destroying the environment, good people intervene, and in the end the bad people get the papers to favour them and start the bulldozers once more. This is exactly what just happened in the woods of Lejuc, near the village of Bure in France. And that’s why we need you. To come. Here. And resist. Big time.
«Some people re-occupied this forest two months ago. To support them I decided to put myself on the line and officially squat the place. I changed my home address here, there’s a mailbox and everything now, and I’m an official resident. Hopefully I’ll makes destroying all this a bit more difficult for those Andra bastards!» says Sven Lindstrom, the first official squatter of the Lejuc forest. For obvious reasons he’s entitled to have his say in this call-out.
«To make things even more difficult for Andra, I’ve decided to have my birthday party right here, at this forest occupation. My birthday‘s on 13.12. and of course it will be a theme party. And as it looks like I need to prepare for party crashers in blue, I think I will start celebrating early. Come in and bring your own beer and plenty of friends!»
On the 1st of August, the nuclear monster Andra was ruled by the court to cease the clear cuts and fencing off the forest with the leftovers of the Berlin wall without legal permits. Today, 24th of November, the environmental authority ruled that Andra is freed from having to carry out an environmental impact study concerning its plans, but can instead simply apply for that final clearing cut permit. The alarming part is that this permit will, besides the clear cuts, also cover the whole of the works in preparation for CIGEO, the gigantic underground repository for highly radioactive nuke waste. So when they come in the next time with their cops and bulldozers: they’re coming to destroy. Big time.
There will be yet one more court hearing about the forest matter on 15th of December. If they play things by the book, they will wait until 15th of December, maybe even January beyond. If they decide to do what they want, they can come evicting on any morning from this moment on. So yes: this is an emergency call out. To join, prepare and face it – and beyond.
To support Sven, some people offer the accommodation, food and building materials for the guest to come and walk in the woods. If you cannot come, take a stand of solidarity elsewhere or drop Sven a postcard at: Sven Lindstrom, Le Haut Chemin, 55290 Mandres-En-Barrois, France.

It appears that Commandant Dubois, the chief of the local Gendarmerie and Gendarmerie mobile wishes to return to the woods of Lejuc. Mr. Dubois is the very chief of the operations carried out in and around the forest this year, from the 7th of July eviction to other moments of questionable behaviour. It appear that Mr. Dubois has communicated his wish to, for example, attend one of our open Sunday walks. This wish was communicated onwards to the occupants of the forest, who yet communicated the matter onwards.
Naturally, we didn’t like Mr. Dubois’s idea very much. Thus, different people with different relations, opinions and experiences concerning the Lejuc woods felt that an open letter in hopes of answers to clear the confusement and worries this communication woke would be the best way to communicate something back to Mr. Dubois.
An open letter to Commandant Dubois
We realise this would not be an easy visit, so we decided to put some thought onto the matter you have presented.
We have been thinking about a place to discuss the modalities of your visit, and as this is all about trust building and as you have already visited this forest, we propose that we meet in your living room or another place in your home wich you deem suitable.
There are some further concerns that you and your friends have shown threatening attitudes and physical harassment to people in this very forest.
We are sure that you understand that, like most people, it is hard for us to be welcoming under these circumstances.
In addition, we are certain that you do not want to give the impression that this could be seen as a provocation by the general public, as we are talking about an agent of the police force visiting a place of struggle, especially since the events of October 2014 in Sivens.
We are very much looking forward to your invitation, as we are keen on discussing all these points with you, and of coming to an agreement.
