New decrees affecting circulation in Bure and Mandres-en-Barrois

* update Saturday 3rd: police controls in Ribeaucourt, Bure, Mandres, Bonnet and Thonnance-les-Joinvilles. They search the vehicles and control the ID of all passengers but let them go afterwards. The appeal against the decrees was rejected by the court, so they are still valid.

The Meuse prefecture is trying to obstruct the convergence towards Bure since the eviction of the forest and especially for the mob weekend starting on Friday 2nd. Four new decrees has been declared. They are active from March 2 (today) to March 5 :

  • A decree to ban demonstrations on the territory of Bure, Mandres-en-Barrois and adjacent villages.
  • A decree to ban parking and circulation of vehicles in the area of Bure and Mandres-en-Barrois, together with the ban of pedestrians and vehicles on the road from Bonnet to the Lejuc wood.
  • Two decrees to ban flying in the area.

However, everything is going well!

The circulation of pedestrians is still legal in the village of Bure and Mandres-en-Barrois (except around the forest, see previous decrees – French only).

From now on, absolutely no police control happened in the name of these decrees. We should be careful though (also considering the decree against the transport of material – French only).

If you get controlled on the way here, call the House of Resistance at 09 54 10 57 11, so we can update this article. For sure, don’t pay the fines. Our lawyers contested these decrees in court already, we should get the result Saturday before noon.

Friday 2nd : a police control happens in Thonance-les-Joinville (outside of the zone affected by the decrees). The cops also made a salivary test against drugs.

In any case, we invite you all to join us! The preparations for this weekend are going well. We won’t let them stop us!

The complete text of the decrees can be read here, in French only.

D+6 after the beginning of the eviction of the wood

The preparations for the coming weekend are going well, everyone is helping. It’s gonna be two days of madness. Warning, the prefecture decrees are still going on. Few controls and vehicle searches occured today around Bure.

2.30pm: The cops are searching a vehicle in front of the House of Resistance. People are going out to confront the cops, who therefore used gases. Pressure strategy.

Nota Bene: Many of our publications are linked to the police, since we have been cohabitating with them for a few months already – even more these last few days – which drags along all the problems involved with this proximity. But do not worry. A lot is being done. We are not only fighting with the cops.

Day+5 after the attempt to evict the forest

We are Tuesday, 27th of February, 5 days after the attempt of eviction.

We know today some neighboors are intimitaded by the police to perform house searches if they don’t give acces to their property to the police.

3.40pm: The situation is stable, many cops in Bure.

3pm: Few friends threw water on the armed cops, spying on the House. A hat has been stolen.  A lot of cops are coming.

2.33pm: some cops are in Bure near the resistance House. A helicopter circling over a group of friends who came back from the forest.

12-2pm: 30 peoples went to the forest, most of them managed to get in. Minor confrontation with the police, badly organised and equipped, and people in the fields.  The Andra’s machines are working in the forest

9-10pm:  Following the prefectoral decree only forbidding the circulation on the road, 3 friends went to the forest to film and take pictures from the fields near the south of the forest.

A covered military truck parked near the Chaufour. The occupiers shouted to friends from afar without intervening. Friends came closer to the south entry, always on the fields, and filming. The police presence at the south is rather scarce, only 2 trucks. The cops didn’t move either, friends are not worried.

At the south, a machine took  fragments of the wall and pipes, in a big container.  Smokes are visible (maybe the last part of the south barricade burning).
