Let’s enjoy a musical spring !

The sun is back and Bure is full of gardening and building projects. It’s a nice time to live in Meuse, so let’s celebrate this energy with music, on the 14th & 29th april, at the former station of Luméville. For those who remember with nostalgy the great musical moments on 18&19th february, under the circus tent and in the multi room, it’s time to relive the adventure !

The money collected will be to cover the costs, invest in a sound system (so that we cam multiply these kind of events !), and finance the struggle & anti-repression (lawyers).

14th april : rap concert

The anarkorap collective La vermine will come from Toulouse, El prolo and K-Listo (Soledad) from Metz.

And of course, an open-mic to finish the night ! Come and let’s set fire (to the Andra and it’s (rotten) world !!) !

The station is getting ready to host from 6:30PM, and the concerts will begin around 9PM, after a great meal ! At the bar, beer, juices & sirups, and thai vegan rice at the kitchen !

The field can host vehicles and tents without problems for those who want to stay the night. Let’s try to keep it safe & clean for the next times !

29/04 – 02/05 : rural antirep festival !

The event will take place for 4 days and will melt agricultural and anti-rep and anti-prison themes. And all this in music ! The program can change but here are the main lines !

Saturday 29th : Party !

Program of the concerts :

  • Me Donner (electro-indus-espé-nuke ; Amiens)
  • Lovataraxx (cold-wave ; Grenoble)
  • Silence Means Death (crust-punk ; Belgique)
  • Darmstadt (crust-punk ; Belgique)
  • Gura (Belgique)

There will also be a table for the Anarchist Bure Cross & the anti-rep. And of course enough to drink (beer, sirups, maybe even cocktails (!)) and eat (home-made pizzas).

As for the 14th, you can park and camp on the field, let’s just try to keep it clean !

Sunday 30 : Discussions

From 3PM, several discussions on peasant struggles, pressures…

Monday 1st : Potatoes works (to confirm, according to the weather)

Since last year, 2ha are being squatted on lands put on reserve by the SAFER for the ANDRA. We are already cultivating onions and wheat, let’s use the festival to joyfully plant all together the potatoes. If you were at Reclaim the fields in november, take a look at the trees you planted 😉

Tuesday 2nd : Jean-Pierre’s trial

A peasant friend, Jean-Pierre, is accused of complicity for the first occupation of the forest last june-july 2016. His “bétaillère” (vehicle used generally to transport livestock) was seized during the eviction, and is still not returned. Let’s be numerous to answer the call for support of the Confédération Paysanne (peasant union).

Naturalist and forest gathering on 1st-2nd april in Bure against the nuclear dump

In Bure we are winning an important range of victories on the field, with a huge mobilisation into the forest and on the 18th february demo, and into the court.

More than ever, the Andra is delayed in its “preliminary works” in the Bois Lejuc. It has to carry on these works, collect environmental data, conduct a range of drills and geotechnical data… to fill out the form to request an authorization of creation, supposedly in 2018. But its calendar is seriously compromised because of our mobilisation, but also of all the agency’s judicial breaches on the forest clearing authorisation, the validity of the exchange of the forest…

This is giving us a little time to keep building a determinate and multifaceted opposition ! In particular, we want to relaunch the dynamic “Naturalists fighting against CIGEO”, started in 2016, with open walks in the bois Lejuc and the Ormançon valley, and also first meetings to lay the foundations for inventories of endangered species.

This dynamic, gathering hundreds of curious, lovers or “professionals” of the environment protection, was crucial in Notre-Dame-des-Landes to slow down the project but also to share widely knowledge on ecosystems and popularize the local bocage (you can find lots of texts in french here), plus all the works by François de Beaulieu on the history of the bocage of Notre-Dame-des-Landes and the use of common lands.

Without copying, a dynamic like this would be relevant in Bure and in the France great east. Beyond the CIGEO project, the whole region is threatened by the nuclear cancer, along with thousands of hectares of natural area, huge watersheds…

Beyond the species inventories, the more the world of environment protection associations, forestry… will take a stand on the refusal of the nuclear dump project and/or the territory nuclearisation, the more difficult it will get for the Andra to recruit service providers to realise its impacts studies and other data collections.

We are in a crucial moment in the struggle, when new forces that join the dynamic can tip over the project to its end.

Morning : Walks, prospections, free surveying.

Noon : Picnic at the House of resistance

2PM : Discussions (presentation of the people and the approach, juridical recap, prospections (when? how?), associations…)

Evening : Nocturnal listenings (to be confirmed)

Morning : Walks, prospections, free surveying.

Noon : Picnic at the Mandres-en-Barrois wash house.

2PM : Family walk from Mandres to the Ormançon valley and the bois Lejuc.

8PM : Feedbacks on the week-end and what’s next

Practical information :

Meals : For lunches, picnics, you bring what you eat. For the dinners, we’ll have to adapt the rhythm of the house of resistance : either the people living there had time to prepare the meal, either we’ll have to cook together to get to know each other better !

Accomodation is possible (take your sleeping bag !), at the house of resistance, in the forest or at people’s houses (if you ask).

Recap of the recent legal setbacks, and what comes now !

This article is freely inspired by the one published on on 1st march

Recap of a week full of legal setbacks for the Andra : trial of Sven & the occupation, trial on the exchange of the wood…It seems the agency is entangled in the legal puzzle. If this pressure is maintained on the field, it could delay seriously the project.

On the 28th February, the administrative court of Nancy prove the inhabitants of Mandres right, by cancelling, because of a procedural defect, the ruling of 2nd July 2015, when the citycouncil authorized the exchange of the Bois Lejuc against another nearby. One and a half year of mobilisations on the wood strongly reinforced the struggle.

The city council now has 4 months to regularize it, meaning make another deliberation and a new decision on the wood exchange. The background has evolved, tongues are loosening, the inhabitants get involved, new people are settling in the village, the mobilisation is getting bigger and bigger… The time of meetings in camera in a townhall kept by security is over. The Andra can no longer demand that a handful of town councilors take a 100 000 years decision for their village at 6am.

The day before, on 27th February, on the appeal about the 1st August decision canceling the clearing authorisation, the environmental agency suspended its previous decision authorizing forest clearing and drillings without preliminary studies. The final decision will be known on 22th May. The Andra still doesn’t have the order to make clearings, and may have to start again from the beginning, with new laws making it harder for them.

On the 22th February, the court delayed its decision on Sven Lindstroem’s eviction to the 5th April, and ask him to meet the court president on the 29th march.

The nuclear dump project had never been so challenged on the field and in the courts. But nothing is done yet, the agency is still the owner of the wood. Above all, the members of the city council of Mandres-en-Barrois could take another decision authorizing the exchange, they are strongly influenced by the nuclear lobby, because of family members jobs or hunt & agricultural leases. The Andra can keep moving on all the other fields, in order to drop its request authorizing the creation of the project in 2018, even if their calendar is challenged.

So, we have a lot to do :

  1. We can not allow the 4 municipal councillors entangled in conflicts of interest to vote. Not mentioning the mayor, now named “CIGEO representative” at the local federation of municipalities.
  2. We have to prevent the Andra for any move or work, in the wood and everywhere else. We make a call to environmental and naturalist associations quietly approached by the agency in order to participate in the global impact study, to stand up and publicly take position against the project in all its forms, including first phases and “environmental characterization”, and to refuse to collaborate with it.
  3. With the delay concerning the eviction of the wood, it is an opportunity to strengthen the occupation, agricultural projects, and everything that make tens of people thinking long-term here.

See you soon, we’ll set up soon new dates for a spring of resistances !
